Welcome to the Department of Neurosurgery at Saint Louis University. The department is devoted to the advancement of neurosurgical care, research, and education. Pioneering work and innovations on neurosurgical technologies and neurosurgical operative techniques have been a hallmark of this department. The St. Louis University Hospital is equipped with some of the most advanced technologies (including intraoperative MRI, and MEG technologies) in order to provide the highest level of care for our patients. The Saint Louis University practical anatomy and surgical education (PASE) laboratory is the largest, most equipped hands on training laboratory in the world for neurosurgical education.

 

Patients will find personalized care provided by multidisciplinary teams dedicated to specific neurosurgical diseases in this world-class neurosurgical department.

On a recent trip to China to teach surgeons about the procedure he created, SLU chair of neurosurgery, Saleem Abdulrauf, M.D, was recognized as honorary visiting professor at the flagship Beijing neurosurgery center.

Dr Yasargil Visits Neursurgery

Gazi Yasargil, M.D., known as the 'father of modern neurosurgery' and Saleem Abdulrauf, M.D., chair of neurosurgery at SLU, both received honors for their commitment to teaching. Yasargil was named Special Honorary Visiting Professor when he spoke at SLU last week. Abdulrauf was honored at the Neurosurgery Center of Beijing when he traveled to China to teach surgeons about brain bypass.
