The Global Young Neurosurgeons Leadership Development Program


The Department of Neurosurgery at Saint Louis University is embarking on a new initiative "The Global Young Neurosurgeons Leadership Development Program".  The initiative involves awarding two funded fellowships annually to international Neurosurgeons who are expected to play future leadership roles in their native countries.

We have selected two exceptional candidates to serve as our Research Fellows for the 2013 – 2014 academic year.

The selected Research Fellows for these two positions each receive a $10,000 annual stipend, which is sponsored by our Departmental Chair's Academic Development Fund.  

The two selected fellows for 2013 are:


Dr.  Rebeca Perez Alfayate

Dr.  Rebeca Perez Alfayate graduated in May 2013 from the highly respected La Laguna University Department of Neurosurgery in Spain .  She was trained under the tutelage of Prof. Victor Garcia-Marin.  She will be our Skull Base Research Fellow starting July 2013

Dr. Ebab Abd Halem Abd Salam AliDr. Ebab Abd Halem Abd Salam Ali graduated in May 2013 from the highly respected Cairo University Department of Neurosurgery in Egypt.  He was trained under the tutelage of Prof. Elgohary Mohamed Elgohary.  He will be our Cerebrovascular Research Fellow starting July 2013.

Both fellows will be working under the guidance of our Chairman, Dr. Saleem I Abdulrauf.

The application process for the July 2014 fellowships will be announced in December of this year.
