by Isaiah Voss

On Friday, Dec. 19, Saint Louis University-Madrid celebrated its Midyear Commencement Ceremony.

Twenty-seven students graduated, with 25 undergraduates and two master's students. The small cohort illustrated SLU-Madrid's culturally diverse student body, representing 13 countries and 11 U.S. states.

The countries included Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Philippines, Serbia, Spain and the United States.

American students represented California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

"We come from all over the world, and yet somehow we found a shared home right here," said Mackenzie O'Leary while addressing fellow graduates. "We found independence. We discovered new passions. We learned resilience. We learned how to adapt and, most importantly, we learned how to build a life wherever we land."

The B.S. in international business was the most popular degree among Fall 2025 graduates. SLU-Madrid awarded one M.A. in political science and public affairs, and another in Spanish.

The ceremony was held at nearby Colegio Mayor Vedruna, a five-minute walk from Manresa Hall. A reception followed at San Ignacio Hall.
