COVID-19 Update March 30

Dear members of the Saint Louis University community,

Another one of our own has tested positive for COVID-19. This time, it was an employee who had recently traveled internationally. That employee has not been on campus since they traveled.

At this time, the employee is mildly symptomatic and is isolating at home. I trust that they will be in your prayers, just as they are in Fran and mine.

Reminder: Any employees who develop symptoms of COVID-19, who are exposed to someone with COVID-19 or who are under self-isolation due to confirmed exposure to COVID-19 should contact Employee Health at 314-268-5499 or employeehealth@slu.edu. If you test positive for COVID-19 after being tested off-campus through your primary care physician, please contact Employee Health so they can help coordinate care and assist you however you may need.

As community spread grows, the likelihood of COVID-19 impacting more Billikens will as well. Please continue to monitor SLU’s COVID-19 webpage for more information, but don’t hesitate to reach out to pandemic@slu.edu with additional questions. We are prepared to meet the needs of our University community, regardless of whether you’re on campus.

We are here for you. We are OneSLU.

Beginning this week, I don’t expect to communicate with you daily, as we have done over the past couple of weeks. Many of you have suggested that I send a video message. Rest assured that I am working on one.

Additionally, I want you to know how much I am learning from regular one-on-one Zoom calls with university leaders, including deans and clinical chairs. These conversations continue to inspire me as I hear more about the courage, generosity and dedication of our SLU community here in St. Louis, in Madrid, and around the world. I am particularly heartened by the stories of our brave health care professionals on the front lines of this crisis. They make us all proud.

Together in spirit, we will get to the other side of this.

God bless you, your families, and Saint Louis University.
