Research Interests
Carroll’s research interests involve both experimental and educational topics. His experimental research interests include reinforced and prestressed concrete structures, while his educational research interests include the use of problem and project-based learning in the classroom at both the university and secondary school levels.
Community Work and Service
Carroll was a faculty member at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 2009 to 2015, where he initiated and directed the structural engineering laboratory before joining the faculty in the Department of Civil Engineering at Saint Louis University in the fall of 2015. He has also co-hosted five documentaries in conjunction with the History, Science, and Discovery channels focused on topics ranging from Cold War nuclear bunkers to engineering in ancient Rome and Egypt.
