Mechanical Engineering, Minor

Saint Louis University students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, computer science, physics, electrical and computer engineering, biomedical engineering and civil engineering have an opportunity to explore mechanical engineering through a minor at SLU.

To initiate a minor in mechanical engineering, students should consult with a faculty member in SLU's aerospace and mechanical engineering department to discuss the required courses and their prerequisites and how they align with the interests of the student. The completion of a minor in mechanical engineering must be certified by the aerospace and mechanical engineering program as part of the graduation check.

SLU's minor in mechanical engineering requires at least 18 credits of coursework that includes MENG 1000 Design Thinking (3 cr) and at least five MENG courses at the 2000 level or above (beyond the requirements for a major).

  • Students must maintain a minimum 2.00 GPA.

Students can complete all or part of the mechanical engineering minor at SLU-Madrid. SLU-Madrid also offers the B.S. in mechanical engineering. SLU-Madrid students studying mechanical engineering can take courses on the St. Louis campus towards their program as well.
