Tuition Assistance Program Information

Students planning to use any form of tuition assistance, whether through the state of Missouri or the Department of Defense, should always verify eligibility requirements with their branch of service.

Each military branch has its own tuition assistance application form and procedures. Prior to enrolling in courses at Saint Louis University, we ask that each student work with their branch specific education center, Education Service Officer (ESO) or unit point of contact (POC) to review requirements for each of these programs.

Missouri National Guard (Air/Army) State Tuition Assistance

Service members planning to utilize State Tuition Assistance, should follow the link above to secure their benefit in a timely manner.

Air Force Tuition Assistance

Active Duty Air Force and Reservists may be eligible for tuition assistance. We encourage students under these programs to work directly with their unit education POC or base Education Service Officer.

Army Tuition Assistance (ArmyIgnitEd)

Active Duty Army, Reservists, and MO Army National Guard may be eligible to use Federal Tuition Assistance. Some students may be required to complete 12 months after completing AIT in order to use this benefit, please consult your unit education POC or base Education Service Officer to confirm.

Coast Guard Tuition Assistance

Active Duty Coast Guard and Reservists in AD status may be eligible for tuition assistance. We encourage students under these programs to work directly with their unit education POC or base Education Service Officer to confirm.

Navy Tuition Assistance

Active Duty Navy and Naval Reservists in AD status may be eligible for tuition assistance. We encourage students under these programs to work directly with their unit education POC or base Education Service Officer. Go to https://www.navycollege.navy.mil/ for more information.

Marine Corps Tuition Assistance

Active Duty Marines may be eligible for tuition assistance. Students should work with their unit or base Education Service Office to ensure all necessary steps are followed.

Visit SLU
  • Schedule your campus visit.
  • If you’re interested, a visit assistant will also schedule a meeting with our military program director.
Apply
Request and submit official documents
  • Contact any high school, college or university you have attended. Your official high school transcript and official test scores (ACT or SAT) are required if you have attempted fewer than 24 transferable college credit hours. 
    • Please note: Saint Louis University will move to a standardized test optional admission process for all undergraduate programs beginning with students applying for admission to the 2021-2022 academic year. Applicants may submit standardized test scores, but those who choose not to will not be disadvantaged in any way in the admission process. 
  • Request official military transcripts from your branch of service.
  • Transfer students should visit visit our transfer admission pages for more information.
  • Send your transcripts to the Office of Admission. Questions? Call 800-SLU-FOR-U.
Submit your FAFSA
  • If you wish to be considered for need-based financial aid, file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) between Oct. 1 and March 1.
  • Apply online at fafsa.ed.gov with school code 002506.
  • Remember to complete the FAFSA application annually.

  • Apply for benefits.

Admitted Student Veteran Checklist

Monitor your student accounts

SLU’s official method of communication is email, check it often. Once admitted, you will receive a SLU email address and banner ID.

  • Log into mySLU using your banner ID.
  • Select or waive health insurance.
  • Accept or decline your financial aid award letter.
Finalize your enrollment
  • Submit your enrollment deposit.
  • Schedule a GI Bill advising appointment with Certification Coordinator Leonard Dollenga at leonard.dollenga@slu.edu or 314-977-2267.
  • Review your tuition bill. If needed, enroll in a payment plan.
Register for SLU101

Attend SLU101 to meet with your academic advisor, register for classes and meet your classmates.

Apply for housing
  • Contact Housing and Residence Life for information about on-campus and off-campus housing.
  • If needed, submit your housing waiver.
