FAQ About Cura

Find the answers to frequently asked questions about Saint Louis University's Cura program.

If I file a request for assistance through slucura@slu.edu, does that mean I can't file a grievance?

No. The request for assistance system and the grievance process are two distinctly separate processes. Filing a request for assistance through slucura@slu.edu does not affect your ability to file a grievance, nor does filing a grievance affect your ability to file a request for assistance through slucura@slu.edu.

When I submit a request for assistance, where does it go?

Requests are sent to the Cura Response Team. Upon review, the case will be managed by a member of this team. You will be contacted within two business days to discuss your request.

Do I have to use this process or can I utilize other resources such as Employee Assistance Program (EP), the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX or the Compliance Hotline? What is different about this process?

The Cura program is just one of many options you have to get help with your situation. We encourage you to use the resource with which you are most comfortable.

If I submit a request for assistance with a specific person, will I be put in a situation where I have to talk to or participate in mediation about the issue?

Not necessarily. It will depend upon your specific situation. The Cura Response Team will help you decide the best course of action to resolve or mediate your situation.

If I submit a request for assistance and feel that the person is retaliating against me, what should I do?

Contact your supervisor/manager, HR consultant, director of consulting and client services or the assistant vice president for Human Resources as soon as you experience any type of retaliation. Please do not allow the retaliation to continue; notify someone who can help you immediately.

Can I file an anonymous request for assistance?
Yes. You can file an anonymous request for assistance with the Cura Response Team. However, the team will not be able to respond to most requests unless it has information regarding who was involved.

How does the Cura program work on the Madrid campus?

The Cure Assistance Program is a completely different process than any other complaint or grievance process on the Madrid campus. Filing a request for assistance under Cura does not affect your ability to file a grievance or vice versa. Requests for assistance go to the Office of Human Resources on the Madrid campus and you will be contacted within two business days to discuss your request.

Each situation is different and will be treated accordingly. The Office of Human Resources will decide on the best course of action to resolve or mediate your situation. It is important that you request assistance when needed; do not allow any form of retaliation or mistreatment to continue. According to Spanish law, your identification is mandatory for the processing of your request. However, you may request that this information be kept confidential by the Office of Human Resources.
