DCHS Summer Health Care Exploration Camp

Saint Louis University’s Doisy College of Health Sciences Summer Health Care Exploration Camp is designed to give underrepresented high school rising sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in a future in health care an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the academic programs offered at the SLU college.

Participants will learn about all Doisy College of Health Sciences academic programs, which prepare students to become athletic trainers, health information specialists, medical imaging specialists, medical laboratory scientists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, physician assistants, radiation therapists, registered dieticians, speech-language pathologists and many other health care professions. In addition to educational activities, students will:

  • Participate in educational activities across various health sciences disciplines
  • Receive SLU gear

Who can participate in the summer camp?

The DCHS Summer Health Care Exploration Camp is open to any rising high school sophomore, junior or senior who is interested in a career in health care. This program encourages underrepresented high school students from diverse backgrounds to pursue health-related careers.

When does the camp take place?

The camp will take place from June 23 - June 28, 2024.

Where is the camp?

DCHS Summer Health Care Exploration Camp will be held on the Saint Louis University campus, with many activities taking place in the Allied Health Professions Building.

How much does the camp cost?

Applicants who are selected will receive a full-tuition scholarship to attend the DCHS Summer Health Care Exploration Camp.

What are the eligibility requirements?

To be eligible, students must have:

  • Successfully completed classes in English, math and science with a grade of "B" or better
  • Earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 or 4.0/5.0
  • Submit a letter of interest (500 words or less) expressing interest in a particular program or the allied health fields offered within Doisy College of Health Sciences

Applicants from underrepresented communities will be given priority.

What is the deadline to apply?
