Meet the Fellows

Sathvik Balaram, M.D.

Sathvik grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, before moving to Kentucky after college. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and stayed in Louisville to complete a Pediatrics residency at Norton Children's Hospital.

Why Allergy/Immunology? I wanted to pursue a field where I had the advantages of being an outpatient focused community-based physician while still having the opportunity for academic pursuits. I also love how much I can improve the quality of life for my patients.

Why SLU? SLU strikes a great balance between adult and pediatric care. The faculty are motivated to teach and engage in meaningful research. Plus, St. Louis is such a unique city to live in with so much to do!

Syed Rizvi, M.D.

Syed was born in Chicago and raised in Central Illinois. His very first ambition in life was to become a garbage truck. Realizing that wasn't possible, he turned to his next big interest: allergies. He earned his medical degree from University of Medicine & Health Sciences and completed his residency at OSF St. Francis Medical Center/Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria, IL.

Why Allergy/Immunology: Having lived with severe allergies my entire life, I can truly empathize with my patients' day-to-day realities of living with allergies.

Why SLU? The small program size allows for an intimate learning experience as well as a balance between adult and pediatric patients.

Bimaljit Pangli, M.D. 

Bimaljit was born and raised in Wisconsin. She earned her medical degree from the University of Queensland School of Medicine in Australia and completed her residency at Louisiana State University." 

Why Allergy/Immunology: "I grew up with allergies and asthma and a close family member of mine has a severe food allergy that very much affects their quality of life. I wanted to learn how to help patients going through these disease processes and hopefully make a positive impact on their lives." 

Why SLU: "The balance this program has between adult and pediatric cross training as well as allergy and immunology is a rare thing. I also love being in St. Louis!"
