We are happy to provide financial support and time for you to travel to national or regional conferences to present your work. We also can provide funding and statistical support for your projects if needed.
Since 2021, the Saint Louis University Internal Medicine Residency Program has developed a formalized research curriculum for resident trainees to gain exposure to various scholarly opportunities available within the Department of Internal Medicine.
Under the direction of Dr. Martin Schoen, we host monthly meetings (previously in the evenings, now being transitioned to noon conference timing) on topics such as choosing a research project/mentor, writing a good case report, utilizing medical library resources and EPIC data collection. We have also started an annual subspecialty symposia series in which each internal medicine division presents recently completed and ongoing scholarly projects to introduce trainees to opportunities for involvement.
The goal of the ASSIST program is to provide residents with the tools to pursue scholarly projects of his/her choosing. We endeavor to make it easier to advance science, build careers, and improve patient care through scholarly efforts and collaboration between residents, fellows and faculty.
