Medical Anatomy and Physiology, Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

Saint Louis University School of Medicine Medical Anatomy and Physiology Certificate Program (MAPP) is a two-semester academic experience for post-baccalaureate scholars considering careers in medicine, biomedical sciences or other health care professions.

Benefits of the MAPP Program

Offered through SLU's Center for Anatomical Science and Education (CASE), scholars may also apply for the CASE master's degree (M.S.) graduate programs. Core courses successfully completed in the MAPP program apply toward the completion of the M.S. in anatomy. These programs provide graduate-level academic experiences, including opportunities to serve as tutors and teaching assistants in advanced anatomical science courses, or to facilitate entry into medical school, other healthcare professional fields, and biomedical doctoral programs.

In addition to this, MAPP students:

  • Take some courses with first-year medical students
  • Who complete the program in good academic standing receive a post-baccalaureate certificate in medical anatomy and physiology
  • Are given the opportunity to participate in MCAT-exam preparation
  • Learn from faculty who are a diverse team of clinicians and scientists dedicated to teaching, training and advising students
  • Experience hands-on training in gross anatomy and neuroanatomy laboratories

Guaranteed Interview for Admission

A candidate for a guaranteed interview into Saint Louis University School of Medicine must be enrolled in the MAPP program and will require: a minimum MCAT score of 498, demonstrated clinical, service and research activities, along with completion of all M.D. application requirements and deadlines. Should a conditional acceptance be offered in this pathway, maintenance of a 3.25 GPA each semester, participation in a minimum of two service activities, and professionalism must be upheld to matriculate into the School of Medicine.
