Studio Art students take classes in drawing, ceramics, 2D design, 3D design, graphic design, painting, printmaking, fibers, installation, and computer art. This image gallery of current student projects contains both finished projects and works in progress.
Senior Spotlight
The Maurice B. McNamee, S.J. Award in Studio Art for 2022 is Ashlee Kothenbeutel. A skilled and creative graphic designer, Kothenbeutel excelled in her roles as Lead Newspaper Illustrator at the University News and as a graphic designer for the student-run graphic design studio, Tidy Projects. Kothenbeutel also won several awards for her editorial illustrations including second and third places from the Missouri College Media Association as well as an artistic merit scholarship from The Greater St. Louis Art Association.
While at SLU, Kothenbeutel also participated on the field hockey team for three years and interned with WebMD/Medscape. She graduated in December 2021 and has created her own LLC, Ashlee Designs (www.ashleedesigns.com). She currently has three contract/freelancing positions in graphic design as she travels the world.
